How current is the company data?

There may be a delay between when changes are made in the official company registers (Handelsregister) and when they appear in OpenRegisters. This is because:

  • We index the company registers periodically
  • Different registers have different update frequencies
  • The time it takes to process and validate the data can vary

We strive to minimize these delays and are continuously working to improve our data freshness.

Which types of companies are covered?

Currently, we cover most types of registered companies in Germany, with some exceptions:

  • Partnerships (Personengesellschaften): Companies like OHG (Offene Handelsgesellschaft) and KG (Kommanditgesellschaft) are now included in our database as Beta features. While available for use, these company types may have limited data or features as we continue to refine their implementation.
  • Primary Focus: Our current coverage focuses on common corporate forms such as:
    • GmbH (Limited Liability Companies)
    • AG (Stock Corporations)
    • UG (Entrepreneurial Companies)

Why might a company not appear in the database?

There are several reasons why a company might not be found in our database:

  1. Recent Registration: If the company was recently registered, it may not have been included in our latest data crawl
  2. Company Type: As mentioned above, certain company types (like OHG and KG) are not yet covered
  3. Indexing Schedule: Different registers are indexed at different intervals, which can affect data availability
  4. Data Processing: Some entries may require additional validation or processing before being added to our database
  5. Inactive or Liquidated Companies: We do not proactively index companies that are inactive or have been liquidated

How often is the data updated?

Update frequencies can vary depending on:

  • The specific company register being accessed
  • Technical limitations of the source systems
  • Our indexing and processing schedules

We are continuously working to optimize our update cycles to provide the most current data possible.

We are actively working on:

  • Improving our Beta support for Personengesellschaften (OHG, KG, PartG)
  • Reducing the delay between official register updates and our database
  • Expanding our coverage to include more company types and jurisdictions
